Oral Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids are basically synthetic variations of testosterone which is a naturally produced hormone in the body. Steroids have anabolic properties which cause muscle building along with androgenic properties which are responsible for development of deeper voice, increased aggressiveness and development of male sexual features and characteristics. A steroid can be taken orally in the form of an oral anabolic steroid.

Oral anabolic steroid helps in synthesis of proteins and thereby contributes towards development of the muscles. An oral anabolic steroid can be in the form of a pill, tablet or capsule or even in a liquid form. Some other ways in which an anabolic steroid can be taken include steroids that can be injected and those that can be administered by way of transdermal patches.

The oral form of a steroid is quite convenient as far as administration of the drug is concerned. However an oral anabolic steroid is required to be chemically modified and so taking these drugs can place a certain amount of stress on the liver. Oral steroids include maxibolin, halotestin, anavar, dianabol and winstrol.

An oral anabolic steroid can remain in the body for a period of around 40 days. With steroids it is often difficult to predict the effects of the intake of these drugs. Different drugs in their different doses react differently with the body chemistry of people. People taking oral steroids may experience some particular changes like sudden increase in the weight and development of muscles. Those taking oral steroids may also experience insomnia, irritability, increase aggressiveness and combative behavior.

Those who take an oral anabolic steroid may also experience irritability, puffiness of the face, acne problems, yellowing of the skin and the eyes, mood swings, premature hair loss and excessive outbursts of anger.

Men taking steroids may also experience development of breast tissue and shrinking of testicles. Continuous use of steroids over a long period of time can cause cardiovascular and liver problems. While taking oral steroid individuals may also experience loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea as it takes time for the body to adjust to the steroid.
